Hardpoint ("we", "us") is a free browser strategy game at playhardpoint.com. This page explains what information the game handles, why, who else sees it, and what you can do about it. We have tried to keep it short and plain. If anything here is unclear, write to contact@playhardpoint.com.
1. The short version
- You can play against AI opponents without an account. Your saves then stay only in your own browser.
- If you sign in, we store your account details and your saves and statistics online so they follow you between devices, and so you can play multiplayer.
- We do not sell your information. The site uses Google AdSense to show ads (see section 3), which can use cookies and similar technologies. We do not run any other advertising or analytics trackers.
- You can ask us to delete your account and data at any time.
2. Information we handle
| What | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account details: your email address and, if you use Google sign-in, the name Google gives us. A password is only used if you sign up with email; it is handled by our sign-in provider and we never see it in readable form. | When you create an account or sign in | To identify you, let you sign in, and show your name to other players in multiplayer |
| Game data: your three save slots, lifetime statistics (games played, wins, kills and so on) and achievements. | While you are signed in; saved to your account automatically | So your progress follows you across devices |
| Multiplayer data: your display name, the room you join, and the orders you give during a match. | When you play multiplayer | To run the match. Match state is held in the server's memory and is discarded when the match or room ends. |
| Technical data: IP address, browser type, and basic request logs. | Whenever you load the game or connect to the multiplayer server | To deliver the site, keep it secure and fix problems |
| Advertising data: cookies and similar identifiers set by Google when ads are shown, and the information they collect. | While ads are shown on the site | To show and measure ads. Controlled by Google and your consent choices. |
| Data kept on your own device (browser storage): your saves, settings (sound, graphics) and your sign-in session. | While you play | So the game works and remembers you. This stays on your device unless you sign in. |
We do not ask for your real name, address, phone number, date of birth or payment details, and we do not collect any location data.
3. Who else is involved
We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf. They only receive what they need to do their job:
- Supabase provides sign-in and the database that stores your account, saves and statistics.
- Google, if you choose "Continue with Google": Google tells us your email address and name after you approve it. We do not receive your Google password and we do not get access to your Google data beyond your basic profile.
- Google AdSense (Google LLC) serves advertising on the site. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies and your IP address and browsing information to show and measure ads, and, where the law allows and you have not opted out, to personalise them. Google's own policy explains how it uses data from sites that use its services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can manage ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com, or opt out of personalised ads at aboutads.info. Where the law requires consent (for example in the EU, EEA, UK and some US states), ads and the cookies behind them are shown according to your consent choice.
- Cloudflare hosts the website and its domain name, and sees technical data such as your IP address when you load the game.
- Fly.io runs the multiplayer server and sees connection data and the data you send during a match.
These providers operate their own privacy practices and may process data in the United States and other countries. We do not sell or rent your account information, and we do not give your email, saves or statistics to advertisers. We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the game and its players from abuse.
4. What other players can see
In multiplayer, other players in your match see your display name (taken from your Google name or the part of your email before the "@") and what happens in the game. They do not see your email address.
5. How long we keep it
- Account, saves and statistics: until you ask us to delete them, or until the account has been inactive for a long period and we remove it.
- Multiplayer match data: discarded when the match ends or the room closes.
- Technical logs: kept by our hosting providers for short periods, in line with their own policies.
- Browser storage on your device: until you clear it. Signing out removes your sign-in session from the device.
6. Your choices and rights
- Play without an account. AI matches work without signing in.
- Ads. You can limit ad personalisation (see section 3), and you can block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking them does not stop the game from working.
- Access and correction. Your saves and statistics are visible in the game's menu. Ask us if you want a copy of the account data we hold.
- Deletion. Email contact@playhardpoint.com from the address on your account and we will delete your account and its saves and statistics, normally within 30 days. Deleting data from your device is up to you (clear your browser's site data for playhardpoint.com).
- Your local laws. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California) you may have additional rights, such as objecting to processing or complaining to a regulator. Write to us and we will respect them.
7. Children
Hardpoint is not directed at children under 13, and you must be at least 13 to create an account. If you are under 13, please use the game without an account, and do not enter personal information. If we learn that a child under 13 has given us personal information, we will delete it.
8. Security
Sign-in goes through an established provider over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Each player's online data is protected so that only their own account can read it. No online service can promise perfect security, so please use a strong password and do not share your account.
9. Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date above and, where reasonable, tell you in the game. Using Hardpoint after a change means you accept the new version.
10. Contact
