Units guide

Hardpoint has ten ground vehicles and nine helicopters. The numbers below come straight from the game, so they match what you see in play. Costs are in steel and composites (concrete is only spent on base buildings). Damage is per second against that kind of target, and "–" means the unit cannot hurt it at all. Speed is in the game's own units, and range is in map tiles.

Every vehicle is based loosely on a real-world design, but the numbers are this game's own balance, tuned by running thousands of simulated equal-cost battles.

Fennek scout

Fast cheap scout · 6k steel · 140 health

The cheapest vehicle you can build and the fastest on the ground. It carries almost no weapon, so its job is to run ahead, light up the map and find where the enemy is. It dies to anything, so never use it to fight.

T-62M

Super cheap tank · 30k steel · 540 health

A cheap, tough-enough old tank. One T-62M does little, and a full group of nine costs about as much as one or two Leopards, so early in a game that mass decides who controls the middle of the map. Weak against well-defended bases, and outclassed by every serious anti-tank unit.

Boxer APC

Base capturer · 20k steel · 260 health

The only vehicle that can capture a base. It has no gun. It waits outside the Flaraks' range until every turret is dead, then drives through the gate into the enemy vehicle bay and is used up to take the base. It does not use up one of your group slots, so build a few spares and keep them back.

Kornet-EM tank hunter

Cheap anti-tank · 40k steel + 10k composites · 420 health

Anti-tank missiles on a light vehicle. It is cheap and hits vehicles hard from long range, which makes it the best value against groups of tanks. Its missiles barely scratch a Flarak turret, so it cannot crack a base on its own.

Leopard 2A6

All-round tank · 170k steel + 60k composites · 1,600 health

The all-rounder. It costs a moderate amount, has solid armour and a gun that works against vehicles and base defences alike. Leopards are the backbone of most armies. It is drawn from real 3D renders of a Leopard 2A6.

M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams

Super tank · 1.5M steel + 700k composites · 10,640 health

The strongest tank in the game and the most expensive. It has the most armour of any ground vehicle and hits hard against everything, but it is slow to build and a single one costs as much as a small army. Protect it from enemy tank destroyers, which still beat it at close to equal cost.

Centauro II tank destroyer

Expensive anti-tank · 600k steel + 200k composites · 3,420 health

A wheeled tank destroyer with a huge anti-tank gun. Per unit of cost it is the strongest ground fighter against vehicles: an equal-cost group of Centauros beats every other ground unit in our balance tests. It does little against base defences and cannot hit helicopters, so pair it with howitzers and anti-air.

2S1 Gvozdika

Cheap anti-base · 35k steel + 25k composites · 320 health

A light self-propelled howitzer. It does very little to vehicles but shells base defences from nine tiles away. A group of Gvozdikas is the cheapest way to take down a Flarak block, as long as something keeps enemy vehicles off them.

PzH 2000

Expensive anti-base · 700k steel + 400k composites · 2,500 health

The heavy howitzer. It flattens Flaraks faster than anything else on the ground, but a Flarak can still shoot farther than the howitzer can, so it has to drive into their range. It is slow, expensive and almost helpless against vehicles that reach it. Never send it forward without an escort.

Gepard anti-air gun

Anti-air · 150k steel + 60k composites · 1,400 health

A radar-guided anti-aircraft gun. It tears through helicopters and is almost harmless to anything on the ground. Keep one or two near your army the moment an enemy has a helicopter base.

Helicopters

Helicopters are built only at helicopter bases, which are neutral bases with a helipad and gantry instead of a vehicle bay. They cost mostly composites. A new helicopter lifts off the middle of its pad, and it lands on the pad to repair.

MD 500 Defender

Fast cheap scout helicopter · 4k steel + 7k composites · 80 health

A small, fast scouting helicopter that sees much farther than any ground unit. Use it to find bases and enemy armies. It is fragile and barely armed.

Mi-8 Hip gunship

Cheap gunship · 21k steel + 33k composites · 300 health

A cheap gunship that is decent against both vehicles and bases. It is a good first helicopter and good value in numbers.

AH-1 Cobra

Anti-tank helicopter · 34k steel + 56k composites · 240 health

An attack helicopter built around anti-tank missiles. It is very strong against vehicles and weak against base defences. It is excellent for hunting enemy armour behind the lines.

Mi-24 Hind bomber

Cheap base-breaker · 41k steel + 67k composites · 180 health

A cheap bomber that is poor against vehicles but strong against Flaraks. A small flight of Hinds can break a base's defences quickly if there is no anti-air nearby.

Eurocopter Tiger

All-round gunship · 157k steel + 257k composites · 880 health

The balanced helicopter. It handles vehicles and bases, has decent armour for a helicopter, and costs a moderate amount. It is the best general-purpose air unit.

Ka-52 Alligator

Expensive tank hunter · 547k steel + 893k composites · 1,880 health

An expensive anti-tank helicopter, second only to the Apache for damage against vehicles. It deletes tank groups, but one anti-air unit in the way can end it.

Mi-26 Halo bomber

Heavy base-breaker · 752k steel + 1.23M composites · 1,380 health

The heavy bomber. It does the most damage to base defences of any air unit, and it is expensive. Keep anti-air units away from its route, or escort it with gunships.

AH-64E Apache

Super gunship · 1.5M steel + 2.46M composites · 5,860 health

The strongest helicopter and the most expensive unit in the game. It is tough for an aircraft and hits everything, but it still falls to anti-air fire, so do not fly it over Flaraks or Gepards.

Ka-226 Sentinel AA

Anti-air helicopter · 144k steel + 234k composites · 780 health

A helicopter-mounted anti-air weapon. It hunts enemy helicopters across the whole map, because it can fly over rivers and bases where a ground anti-air gun cannot go.
